Whilst it emerged earlier this week that IBM continue to sit atop the social business hierarchy, that is not stopping other companies from attempting to topple them from their perch.
Social business software company Jive for instance announced improvements to its enterprise social collaboration product this week. The upgrade aims to make it easier to group sites for specific tasks.
Jive also announced a better integration between its social software and the cloud storage system offered by Box.

alternative to email for enterprise collaboration and communication.
"We want to help people and companies execute more effectively and efficiently," said Nathan Rawlins, vice president of product marketing at Jive.
25 new templates aim to make it much easier for employees to setup
group sites. They include templates for closing a sales deal or
designing a marketing campaign.
Each template allows relevant information to be pulled in from CRM and ERP software, whilst also connecting employees up from across the enterprise.
"Productivity increases a lot when people collaborate with a purpose," Rawlins said.
the new templates also integrate easily with Salesforce's CRM and
social business software. This allows users to see information from
their CRM accounts and from Chatter updates from within Jive.
In an attempt to make outcomes the focus of the collaborative efforts, the new software also features Structured Outcomes, which allow participants to tag comments as requiring a particular action, and assigning someone to perform it.
"Accomplishing this is hard to do on email, because people on a thread can lose sight of who needs to do what and when" Rawlins said.
"You end up with a lot of conversation but not a lot of action," he said.
This official integration was originally announced in October, but this first official outing marks an important step between the two vendors as they both look to make their offerings more attractive to buyers.
