We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to make software patents clearly unenforcible. Software patents are used by convicted monopolists to threaten customers who consider using rival software. As a result, patents stifle innovation.

I don't see it as an "all or nothing" battle that the person who started this petition clearly does (from the language involved in the "More Details" section).
However something does need to be done, and anything that draws attention to the fact that this needs serious thought has to be a good thing in my opinion

People should be contacting their elected "representatives" instead.
General petitions just make noise with no results. Besides, petitioning the Prime Minister? Isn't it the job of the house to pass/change laws?
