API’s are hot and if I had the chance I would be full time an API designer. About a year ago I fell in love with the abstract layer and lately it feels like a drag to do any actual implementation. I have the tendency to over-architect my projects just for the sake of it, but I can’t help myself. If there’s some kind of support group I’d like to hear about it ;) The consequence is that a gained a lot of experience designing API’s, even when it was not completely justified. This is what I’ve learned:
