Working the J2EE web application space, TOO many times management ASSUMES how the end-users will use our product.

It is SO MUCH CHEAPER to fly in a few end-user(s) if they are off-site and have included in some of the requirements gathering (to a point, of course ;-) ). They allow these same users access to Alpha releases to see if the software is what will is necessary to perform their daily routines, what future enhancements would be highly impactful for the software etc.

WAY too many times software developers (including myself) feel like we are taking an arrow to the heart for each design or function critique that we receive. If it wasn't for the end-user, we be handing out Smiley Stickers the the local Wal-Mart :-)

Regards,
Tom
