Amazon, always an innovator, recently unfolded yet another masterpiece to the world in the form of EC2 web-service. Gumiyo.com, an online mobile-commerce provider and Abaca.com, a spam-blocker solution, are now celebrated as the pioneers to launch a production site using Amazon EC2 Service.

This feels a lot like spam, and all the accounts have only voted on the same blog link.

@theorb - I understand your concern but it is not a spam. People who voted are my friends to whom i sent this link asking them for their thought.

I'm going to have to +1 on the lame complaint. It does look an aweful lot like the link was gamed. Technically speaking it wasn't, so I don't really have grounds to be really upset, but that fact coupled with the fact that it's a fairly uninteresting article saying (in a nutshell) "someone's using EC2" makes me a little jumpy.
I can't *really* fault you, but I am going to complain because I don't think that it's a worthy FP link. :-)

I don't think it deserves a complaint. A rather boring article with little weight. I didn't learn much and the lead in sucks. It starts out by talking about the first sites to use EC2 and then all of the sudden, with no transition, the article begins to explain how it works, and it is almost a straight cut and paste job from the official tutorials. I don't like people touting others tutorials as one they wrote. I find it rather strange that your friends signed up for an account just to vote for you, but who knows. It seems like you have a rather complacent attitude and you just needed to have the numbers to feel good about yourself. I have plenty of ones. It isn't bad to get a one.

Absolutely right, the whole point is to submit something and get the community to vote on it.
I think the complaints were mostly because of all the votes out of the blue on an article with little weight, as you said.
daniel replied ago:
Yeah, that was pretty much it. I saw the link as it was posted but I didn't complain on it because I thought it would die pretty quickly. Since it's score is beginning to climb (due to the sudden influx of votes from the new profiles), I complained on it to prevent it from being promoted.

@all - I sincerely appreciate everyone for their comments, complaints and criticisms. This is what keeps bloggers and communities going.
But, i have a humble request as well. Complain on entries that are against the rules of the forum, instead of complaining just because a couple of new accounts voted for it. If you complained because it looked like spam, then came to realize that it wasn't, then wouldn't it be nice to withdraw it?
I watched one of my friend's activities in dzone after voting for me. It seems like, they liked the community, and have started to participate. This means that i have brought in a valid and active user to the community. Isn't that nice? I like dzone and am glad to be part of such a niche and developing community, and i would like to serve the community in ways that would make it more interactive and effective.
I guess what i am trying to say is, i welcome the criticisms from all those who hated the article, but those who complained because it had votes from my friends were being slightly rude. Thanks again friends. Will try to post something more interesting soon.
