Profiling is an essential part of software development. But, profiling tools are generally expensive and not affordable for individual developers and freelancers. However, there are several free, open source profiling tools that are as good as commercial tools. Some of these tools approach profiling in a interestingly different way.

JProfiler is great but sadly its not open source. I wanted to list down only open source alternatives which freelancers can use.
JProfiler also provides free licenses for developers of open source projects, but I can't consider it as a free alternative for freelancers.
