When Oracle acquired Sun, the database giant also acquired the Java technology that was Sun's lifeblood. Oracle Chairman and CEO Larry Ellison called Java the most important technology Oracle has ever acquired. With ownership and leadership come responsibility. Java's future is now in Oracle's hands. This eWEEK slide show presents 15 ways Oracle can improve Java and boost its position in the Java community.

These 5 'ways' are related to the language itself:
05 -- JavaFX
06 -- Extend Dynamic Language Support on the JVM
08 -- Talk to Google about JavaMe
13 -- Java Needs a Standard Parallelism Solution
14 -- Java and Linq
According to D. Taft, Java is not quite good enough for 5,6,8,13,14.
So Oracle must do some work to place Java back on the top.
And it is not going to be easy:
For 8/JavaMe, Android is is not the ultimate platform yet and Google may want to use
C/C++, Python, Go, ... Ruby.
13/Parallelism is difficult for everyone. The first with a good solution will be the king of the desktop.
