Last week we looked at 22 Neat Editors for Windows. But sometimes, a code editor simply isn't enough, especially when you're working with things like databases and classes. Which IDE will you prefer? Hopefully you'll find it below!

It is always useful to have a list of IDE/Editors, and it is multi-platform. But:
IntlliJ IDEA (the correct spelling is 'IntelliJ IDEA') is slow, you have must a very powerful machine.
I was never able to install APTANA properly, not on an exotic distro, but on Ubuntu.
textMate did not make it.

TextMate is a text editor, not an IDE. It was featured in the article they wrote on text editors though.

IntelliJ IDEA is slow compared to what? I had an old laptop I used for school that I installed IDEA on because it ran faster than Eclipse and Netbeans.

I have reinstalled IntelliJ IDEA in a dual core and it is very acceptable. My old machine wasn't good enough.
