Visual Basic, Programmer/Analyst...numbers suggest that most jobs are holding their own, salary-wise. Just not sure I believe it. Also gives database pay numbers.

Well, I'd say a Programmer/Analyst is a tad up the pecking order from a software engineer, in that a P/A is expected to do more higher level analysis.

most of the time it is the frontline programmers who hav to do most of the analysis

I can say where I work it is a question of credentials, not tasks.

Planetmcd, I think you're right -- it tends to always be a question of credentials, not job title per se. Hopefully our credentials will save us in this downturn.
