Are they really the "Best" Eclipse plugins? Did the author conduct or cite any scientifically valid research of developer productivity using *any* of these plugins?

No. The author did not.

The plugins presented are most likely not the best. Instead, they're just this author's favorite plugins, or worse yet, just a list of plugins the author never used, but they sounded like good plugins to include in his pointless article.

I like the article. And as it is not a sciencific article, it is okay for me - although bad developers won't be productive, regardless the available tools ;-)
