Padclipse is a new cross-platform text editor and a light weight distribution of Eclipse that only contains the Eclipse Text Editor and a few other plugins. The first pre-alpha release based on Eclipse 3.3RC4 can be downloaded for Windows, Mac or Linux. The download is only 20MB and the major benefit over just using Eclipse are start up times of only about 2 to 5 seconds. Warning: the 0.1.0 release is not well tested, but might be quite usable.

Hmmm... not quite sure what purpose this app serves. Plenty of text editors already, especially ones that open much faster and have far more functionality.
