"Take any other real world appliance, be it a microwave, a stereo, or a phone. I guarantee most people will never say, "Wow, this [insert your appliance here] works great. It's so easy to use and everything makes sense." It is only when it doesn't work like it's supposed to, that people will say something."
And I thought I bought my iPod because of it's design and usability...

Bad title, but yes, this is what happens when what you do becomes a commodity.
Network service providers discovered this 10 or so years ago, if the network is down, THEN people bitch. It is a thankless job. You have to liken yourself to the power company. When was the last time you called your power company and said "Wow, I haven't had an outage since that ice storm 5 years ago. Thanks for the great service!" But how do you feel when the power goes out?
Bad web site design SUCKS and luckily, we users don't have to put up with it. We can simply close the browser window. Now if only I had someone other than Comcast in my area I could close them as my cable provider. But I don't call them when my channels are working either.

Only people of the same sphere would appreciate or bring down your invention or work. Others don't care just because they've no idea how much effort is put into the thing

Reminds me of stage crew in high school. If you do your job well, no one knows you exist.

Not receiving compliments for your design work is not a failure on the part of everyone you show your designs to. Are you not getting any referrals? Those are the highest form of flattery, even if it all happens behind your back. You may not realize it, but what you wrote sounds like you're fishing for compliments, and that you're whining about not receiving any recognition for your hard work. You may be working hard, just not in the way that counts towards being recognized in the way that you want to be.
