Just now my RSS reader pops up a post at Ubuntu Planet, making it clear that compiz will be installed by default in Ubuntu 7.10, which is to be released in October.

The description here is wrong. Compiz is already installed by default in Ubuntu 7.04. The page says, Compiz (It's Compiz Fusion now, by the way) will be "enabled" by default in 7.10.
