Here are some screenshots of my 3D Engine (codename Metaverse) I made a few years ago. It is written in Java and uses JOGL (JSR 231) as OpenGL binding and JInput to access the controllers.

sorry it was not clear for me that dzone is limited to any kind of topic except "fresh links for developers"
To release it as a open source project it would be a lot of code cleanup required and a redesign of the public APIs. I am already owner of 2 open source projects and have currently not enough time to admin a third project - sorry.
But if you are interested in that area you may look at projects like the jMonkey Engine (often used for game prototypes in the industry), Xith3D or the general purpose scene graph Java3D (all open source).
What FlySwat means is probably that we like links to blogs that actually explain something, report on some news, or express some opinion. At first sight this looks a bit like: "hey, I made this 3 years ago. See how great it looks.", which is something most people would regard as "so what. what can I do with that information?".
The bit of useful information in the blog is "Java is able to do fast, good looking 3D graphics on moderate hardware" ;)

yes, that is actually what i intended with that blog entry ;) Interpret that as yet another prove that java can be used for that kind of applications.

Why not release it as open source? It looks promising...
