IE has some work but it is still beta ... this article jumps to a lot of conclusions...

That was the most biased load of tripe I've ever read. IE8 doesn't pass Acid2? Really? Proof? I've seen it pass with my own eyes. I thought maybe you were referring to the fact that it fails one test in Acid2 when the test is hosted on a site other than the official site, which the IE8 team officially blogged about and explained. If it's a security issue, I'm glad they fail there. Doesn't change the fact that they pass the REAL Acid2 test.

They've added things? Oh no! They're not standards compliant! What B.S. I'm willing to bet every browser has extensions. That doesn't effect standards compliance at all. In fact, that's how standards progress. Microsoft has said they're submitting such changes to the standards committee for *possible* inclusion.

It's slower than even IE6! Uhmmm... it's a developer beta. I would have been beyond floored if this were not the case.

There's an opt-out meta tag! Oh no! Jeez. It's a risky enough move for them to make things standard by default. Not including the tag would be the absolute worst thing they could have done. The fact that you're going to make the lame attempt to beat up on them about that says your a moron. Sorry, don't like name calling, but there's not much else to say at this point. It's a controversial topic / title -- it drives site traffic. Hopefully, that is the explanation for this lack of research.

IE8 does pass the ACID 2 test. Kind of. The reason that the latest beta does not pass is because of cross site scripting prevention.
