Crap, I added the above comment to the wrong article. That was supposed to go on the latest Swing App Framework thread. Not sure how to fix it. I tried to edit it but got a long stacktrace.

With regards to this article on must have java tools, I hate these lists. They are so subjective and you end up with comment after comment on "why didn't you include [insert tool here]. At least rename it to something like "My 13 must have tools...". Don't assume your tools work for everyone.

Am I the only idiot to have installed svn via cygwin? doesn't work at all with Netbeans although I was surprised they relied on native support instead of something like svnkit.

Quibble over the Ant point. Its always handy to have Ant and Maven installed for use outside of your IDE (building 3rd party snapshots).

How much would you have voted down for a mention of maven.. in any case a dependency manager is also boon for any decent sized project. I'm a Ant + Apache Ivy guy.
