Despite rumors of its death, the relational database continues to run businesses around the world, and it continues to provide countless billable hours to programmers around the world, and will continue to do both until something better comes along. I wanted to share this particular entry from my blog, which details a powerful and advanced relational technique known as a "Resolution."

Is COALESCE part of the SQL 92 Standard?
Kenneth Downs replied ago:
Honestly don't know, it's been part of every server I've used (MS SQL Server, DB/2, Postgres) since I began using them in late 90s. For MySQL you always have to check the docs, they are improving in support of database basics but are still way behind.
