Gmail–many of us web workers could hardly get by without it. I happen to use both Outlook and Gmail, but Gmail is increasingly the e-mail engine I spend most of my time in. If you do too, a few tips on customizing your setup, optimizing searches, and more can save you lots of time. In this post, I’ll round up 10 examples.

I did. Doesn't matter if you tag it as "humor", it still needs to relate to developers, as this is a site for developers

I believe you have misconstrued the intended purpose of the "usability" tag (although I could be wrong).

If I understand correctly, "usability" articles should be articles dealing with usability in the context of design and/or development. In other words, point out what is good or bad about GMail's design, or how it could be improved, or how it was engineered, or philosophies and theories regarding said usability.

In the long list of "GMail tips/trips/hacks" articles, this one is not even in the top 50.

This is what a GMail tip site should look like: http://botw.org/articles/gmail-hacks.htm

Not front page worth, yet, here it is. And here it will stay even with all the down votes.

I agree, its not very developer related, but having said that...the "article" did point me to the Advanced search features table at google which I've never seen before so I found it at least useful. At least it wasn't another "get rich/buy my product" article.

Anyone know what sort of algorithm determines front-page worthiness? It seems to me 5 votes gets you there but is that just 5 in general of 5 in relation to other front page stories?

Here is my quick Gmail tip... don't use it! lol Seriously, I really can't stand Gmail. I have to use it for my job though so I route it through Thunderbird via IMAP.
