All jobs have their share of things that make you want to tear your hair out, but programming stands out in this regard (which is probably how programmers earned a reputation as snappish and anti-social by their chirpy colleagues in marketing). ITworld's Phil Johnson, a happily former programmer, wrote about some of the things that drove him nuts, including users being stingy about sharing information about bugs, and the expectation that he could fix any computer-related problem.
