Some ineffective development practices have been chosen so often, by so many people, with such predictable, bad results that they deserve to be called "classic mistakes." Most of the mistakes have a seductive appeal.

OMG, the latest project I'm working on exhibits just about all of the classic "people mistakes" this guy enumerates. My manager will get a kick out of this...

A word of advice from a more experienced developer: You may be surprised if you show this to your manager; most likely, it will be you who will get the 'kick' out of it.

welp, i've been through all those. my manager and i work very well together though, i think we would cry together intsead of blaming one or the other ;)

Managers get to be managers by diverting blame for failures to others while taking credit for every success they can.
The moment something goes wrong seriously enough that he needs a black sheep you're a natural target.

Pickup and read the entire book that this excerpt came from and get even more wisdom. "Rapid Development" is a very easy read with short chapters on specific issues. Read it and keep going back to it for reference.
