If you are an experienced Linux user who misses a powerful command-line environment in Windows, you will enjoy Cygwin.

While I am a cygwin fan (when I used to run Windows) the information in the article is weak. Could have just linked to the cygwin site which has all that info already. DZone needs quality articles on the front page. Not light handed regurgitation.

Gregg, I don't agree with you.

> the information in the article is weak

The article answers 3 important questions: What is Cygwin. What you can do with it and why you should use it. Based on that information, users can determine if they are interested in this tool or not. And if they are, they'll find some interesting links there as well.

> DZone needs quality articles on the front page

I agree, that's why we shouldn't follow your advice. Posting links to tools is just a waste of time.

This might have been interesting a 10 years ago, but cygwin has been around for a while and is pretty well known in the developer community. So this is pretty old news. Whats next, a blog post about a neat new browser called "Firefox"?
Also, why is this tagged php?
