I've recently spent some time playing with Git as a source control system. Initially, I'd ignored the Git hype since I've always been more than happy with Subversion.

No thanks... when they get normal windows support and a tortoise, i'll check it out. But what really turned me off from Git was Linus' talk at Google about it... what a douche...

I lost a lot of respect for Linus after that talk. I'm sure some of what he said was just some offbeat jokes, but he struck me as an arrogant asshole that assumed all business models resembled that of the open source model. I can practically guarantee that Git would not have worked at some of the companies that I've worked for. This isn't because Git is a bad idea, but it just didn't fit the business model.

Linus can come across that way. Watch some more videos with him and you'll see pretty much the same personality.
We're switching my office from svn to git. Git is so much nicer and easier to use. We still have a central repo that is Git based as a control point for builds.

I saw that video too and he certainly did come across as an obnoxious "Git" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=git), but I thought he was just playing to the crowd. The guy has an image to keep up :)

Voted down because you don't like Linus? That's kind of a stretch don't you think?
lem z replied ago:
No, voted down because it doesn't work on windows without cygwin crap. The largest development platform (or second largest, depending who you ask) most likely ignored on purpose by Linus.
