This article talks about the social differences between the MySQL and Postgres communities, rather than the technical differences between the databases. It still manages to miss the point about how the social differences matter.
Mysql is a commerical product as much as Oracle is. Mysql just gives away the source code. There's still a company behind Mysql which makes money by offering support and that profits by making Mysql supportable. Mysql is a more reliable product that's better documented and easier to maintain and install than postgresql, because there's a company that profits from making it a database that people can pick up and use. Postgresql is a collection of people's science projects -- there is some great technology there, but there's less attention to fit and finish.

Mysql a more reliable product? Whatever. Postgre's documentation is quite good. There's 3rd party support for it. Many who work on Postgre also worked on big-iron databases.
