For a developer, there's never a shortage of material to learn. Whether you're exploring the backwoods of System.DirectoryServices.Protocols, spending quality time with generics, or delving into the fine art of garbage collection, there is always something clamoring for your attention. So why should you make learning Microsoft SharePoint technologies a priority? Here are five good reasons.

Don't bother. It's a SharePoint ad.

I was hoping this list of reasons to learn SharePoint would include something like:
- The Firefox support sucks in SharePoint, maybe you can fix it.
- SharePoint users are stupid and can't organize content on a SharePoint site to save their lives, by extending SharePoint, you can fix this.
- Learning SharePoint will let you fix the search so that it actually finds relevant content.
Unfortunately, this list didn't contain any of these items. In fact, it didn't have anything useful worth mentioning at all.
