Take for example this recent post on hacker news with the title “Amazon and Google Discover Erlang (IMDB is switching from Perl to Erlang)”. There in the comments someone gives a source for the IMDB claim: “IMDb on Java/Erlang (a job posting)”.

A cogent criticism of the misrepresentation of Amazon's job posting as presented on the Hacker News in promotion of Erlang. I am not overly fond of Stephan's chosen title for this article, but the kind of hype Hacker News is presenting is grotesque so it is fairly labeled.
I will keep Stephan's criticisms in mind and restrain my own enthusiasm to realistic levels as I present Erlang to people. It really does a disservice to a language to promote it with hyperbole and misrepresentations.

I must say this response really comes as a breath of fresh air compared to what we normally see from other 'camps' (not worth mentioning here by name). I saw your comment on Stephan's blog post also. Nice.

Erlang has clearly appeared too close in the Javascenti radar. When they start whining about "grotesque hype" due to just one daft post, it is time to consider why they are so twitchy.
