Every once in a while I encounter an online service or Web site that is so irritating that it seems like the people behind the service are just in it to frustrate Web users. And I don’t mean the obvious candidates like email spammers and purveyors of popup ads since they’ve been around for so long I’ve either learned how to ignore and avoid them.

I could add a few things to this:
- too heavy use of javascript in public pages that blocks the borwser (and all the browser windows) for a few seconds. Javascript frameworks that cause this effect are often Dojo and ExtJS.
- timeouts and animations in pages that switch the content (considering that they know how better much time the user has to view a page) - e.g. Frobes.
