Rather than write a traditional review of Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), I thought this might be an opportune time to reevaluate XP's standing in the Windows world. After all, virtually every technology pundit on earth has described Windows Vista as operating system non grata, an upgrade to be avoided at all costs.

Somewhat bizarre article... his conclusion is that "the advantages of Windows Vista are very real. Very real indeed" and "Good news: You're going to love it." If you're using XP, you don't need to race out and upgrade immediately, but XP is only useful in the short-term.
But in building this argument, he lists a handful of improvements that Vista offers over XP that really affect him... but also mentions how you can more or less bring XP up to speed in all of these areas by spending an hour or so adding a few MS-offered and 3rd party enhancements. He double-lists some of the same complaints, plus there are little things like this that really get my BS radar pinging: "And like Vista, XP doesn't ship with any form of anti-virus. So you'll have to find some kind of AV solution on your own as well."
Wait... "like Vista"? Those two words make it technically honest, but the whole section of content does not belong in a list of problems that are unique to XP and discouraging a downgrade from Vista.
I haven't personally tried Vista yet -- but this certainly seems way too skewed to be a useful comparison.
