My laptop recently died. Because of this I've been doing some preliminary research to find myself a replacement. It's been awhile since I've had to purchase a laptop, so I was a bit surprised when I couldn't immediately find one that I was satisfied with. For some reason I thought that finding a suitable laptop for development that met my short list of criteria wouldn't be very difficult. But the more research I did the more apparent it became that "software developer" wasn't the target demographic laptop manufacturers were trying to capture. With that being said, here's my short plea to laptop makers:

Actually, we all do want wide screens. We just need a vertical resolution > 800. Even non-programmers would agree there.

I think this post should have been titled: "Why you shouldn't use a laptop for programming"
