People are calling Google Chrome a "Web Operating System" and a "Cloud Operating System". Some are even calling it a Windows killer. I think it's time to nip this horseshit in the bud, before it gets out of hand.

Unfortunately, some intelligent and insightful bloggers have fallen prey to this insanity as well:

The language is rude, dude. But if you strip the argumentation down, he's got a point ;-)

while i liked the article, to play devil's advocate here. the web os, I guess, the cloud, and services are the development stack, and the browser being the os ..where all software runs within the browser, and i'm just talking out of my a$$ now.. they don't know what there talking about.

funny article, but the final stack is bloated by the "virtualbox -> windows -> c lib" layers. Chrome will be a linux native eventually, which reduces the stack to the same size as the "doable" VM one.
i.e.
hardware -> kernel -> glibc & shit -> language runtime -> app
is the same "size" as
hardware -> kernel -> glibc & shit -> chrome -> app
which, incidentally, is the same as any framework based on the Mozilla Application Framework:
hardware -> kernel -> glibc & shit -> MAF -> app

gah.. i meant "which... is the same as any APPLICATION based on the MAF," not framework.
