How many top sites are using Ajax? And what frameworks do they use to make it happen? Then answer? Not that many and of the few that do, many roll their own.

I wonder why a site such as Wikipedia (#9) should be expected to use AJAX? Using AJAX surely isn't now a sign of quality?

Expected? I think there is something to be said for the clean and simple approach, and Ajax can be used to clutter a site. But it can also be used to improve the user experience, i.e. you can get a sampling of another article through an Ajax popup, rather than having to browse to another page.

Oh I completely agree, I was just trying to make the point that purely "AJAX usage" may not be a good metric, as there will be both good and bad usages of it...
