AJAX Edition 4: What makes older versions of IE so slow as compared to newer versions of Firefox?
Loading a page like zappos.com takes 4 times longer on an older browser (IE6, 7) as compared to newer ones (IE10 or FF18). Why? Because many web sites provide different JavaScript implementations for different browsers in order to overcome limitations of older browsers. Some of these implementations are not that fast and lead to performance issues like this one. In this blog I show all the steps and explain how to compare performance across different browsers and browser versions using free available tools
