The average commercial Web site isn't as fast as it should be, just to avoid annoying potential customers. It's not half as fast. It's not a *third* as fast. Real-world measurements show that the biggest, most-trafficked sites display pages take about FOUR TIMES as long to load as prospects are willing to wait. Most frustrating of all: there are plenty of simple steps that can help, but only if they're actually used.
