I know this has been discussed before, but I wanted to get the collective opinion of Javalobby members. I'm currently working on a desktop application project that is mostly data driven, and needs to have an embedded database. Right now, I am using Hsqldb, but could swap in another database fairly easily.

As mentioned in some of the comments, http://www.h2database.com/html/frame.html is a superior alternative (IMO) to either HQSLDB or Derby.
