So you need an Object abstraction on top of a database connection abstraction on top of a relational model abstraction on top of a storage abstraction to manage a list of user/password/role entries?

No,you need the abstraction of dao factory,the abstraction of controllers etc to manage the whole application not just roles users and passwords
