Follow the illustrated step-by-step assembly of a liquid-cooled, 8-core development machine based on the Intel SkullTrail motherboard, blazing fast Intel QX9775 Core 2 Extreme processor, and Adaptec RAID controller with 3 10K Velociraptor hard drives. The assembly is preceded by the goals for the system, as well as cost-benefit analysis and justification for spending $5,000 - $6,000 on a development machine. Full parts list and pricing, and a brief photo tour of the home office where it all took place.

Go get yours! If you aren't sure, reread the "Cost Justification" section. :)
The processor just arrived, so I'll be booting it up tonight and starting my adventures in overclocking.

It still needs 11 fans? So much for liquid-cooled...

Not too sure if I'd appreciate 11 fans and a few fast drives spinning away when developing. I'd vote for quieter as opposed to faster any day.

Just turn on the music :-)

The fans are actually very quiet, I was surprised myself. After owning a dual processor AMD that sounded like a jet engine taking off, this is quiet even with the case taken apart... with it on, under a desk, I don't think I'll notice it too much. Not sure why this is.
