Trac 1.0rc1 now supports Git, the popular distributed version control system. BitNami Trac 1.0rc1 already includes Subversion and now ships Git and of the required dependencies to make it easy to get started with either repository.

That's great and all, but what does Trac have that GitHub doesn't?

You are right, but you an not use GitHub if you want an internal or private version control system or you want to customize it. You could pay to GitHub for a private repository or you can deploy your own project management system: Trac, Redmine, Gitorious, ...

That's a fair point. Sometimes you may want to retain control by keeping such a tool on your own equipment or by restricting access to local or vpn users. GitHub hosting can't quite pull that off.
