As a Delphi programmer and fan, I've been concerned with the way Borland has neglected to promote their own products & community. So it didn't come as too much of a surprise that they've decided to get rid of all their IDE development products to the highest bidder. Can Delphi be saved, or is it doomed to fade into obscurity?

I thought it was dead already. Since the moment Borland changed its name to Inprise, it f***ed up. It was a very bad idea. It's hard for managers to know that a software enterprise has changed its name, and thus its product brand.
Also, Inprise raised the price of their products. So the a part of the remaining customers, the developers, switched to other cheaper solutions. Finally, some customers remained, until they were fed up with the many bugs of Delphi. It has been a very nice product. But it's now dead since so many years....Sad story. RIP.

Borland has Spun off All the IDE's to http://www.turboexplorer.com/
A lot of contractors and innovative software houses use Delphi
It's the 'core' of many large software houses you know

Even microsoft used an installer made with Delphi to install VB.
If you noticed the Visual Studio 2005 really sucks because it does not tell you to change your CD's - perhaps they should have continued using Delphi.
Now that Delphi (Borland Studio) is FREE from TurboExplorer
there is even more reason to continue developing applications and FireFox plugins using it.
