It's advertising for an Open Source project.
Somebody is spending their own money to sponsor an Open Source project.
This isn't spam, it's a dedicated group of developers spending both their time and money on a project that they believe in, and they are giving away free to everybody.
I think they should be applauded.
*sigh*

Some more thoughts on JQuery...
I've worked with a lot of programmers in the last year that are somewhat scared of Javascript and Ajax because they don't know what they are getting into, and trying to figure out which functions to call to do what prevents them from using it.
That's why I think a framework like JQuery is so important, because it is so simple and easy to use that it makes javascript and Ajax approachable for everybody.
.... and this is my 100th comment on dzone. =)

Happy comment-day! :-D

Thanks for the support guys. The prizes are all self-funded and we're just trying to build awareness of the project. And as Lowell mentioned, its completely Open Source and community supported. There's financial gain for doing this.
Lowell Heddings replied ago:
I assume you meant that there is no financial gain =)
reybango replied ago:
Exactly. :) No financial gain.

Well, I seem to be out voted. :-) It's all good, that's what Dzone is all about...
I don't have a problem with the content of the link. In fact, I applaud it. However, I have a real problem with people posting links to their own content on Dzone. Obviously, there's no rule against it, but it really strikes me as self-advertising.
