In this post, we provide detail on a case study at Southwest Airlines where Pivotal GemFire is used for session cache. With 4000+ reads/writes per second, and 84% of their revenue coming from the website, performance was a key requirement when selecting a new solution to replace their homegrown legacy session management application. In this case study, we share a competitive comparison of JVM usage and storage requirements that showed GemFire to have almost half the footprint in the data center as compared to the competition.
