Now I'm really disappointed. I thought Rails does everything for me.

After having used it couple of times for real world applications, I think Rails is great framework for RAD but suffers from a scalability issues, once those kinks are sorted out , it would enjoy main stream acceptance till then we would have to rely on work around such as this.
