Thanks, Adam - good catch. We MUST get dupe checking implemented more successfully in this system.

Meanwhile, how should we be handling something like this?

Hi Rick,

I can think of a couple of ways.

Firstly you could have a button on this page for reporting suspected duplicates, when clicked it asks for the link to the previous dzone comment page. This could then get flagged in the system so that someone can check it out, and either disregard the report, or remove the submission.

A second option would be to implement negative voting, so that dupes and offensive material can be marked down. However this could lead to further problems, such as a Java programmers marking down C# links and vice versa.

Site visitors voted it to the front page, so I dunno if a dupe is entirely a bad thing.

Hey guys...love the site...I say live with dupes if you can...if/when you guys grow to the point where stories are rolling off the front page as they do on digg, some of your users may be thankful for it.
