Once I had no alarm clock, only a computer running Linux, and it had no sound card or internal speaker.
I worked out how many seconds there were until 7.30am, and used sleep, eject and eject -t (-t means bring the CD tray back in) to wake myself up by ejecting and retracting the CD drive 100 times.
Now I'm more advanced. I'd use 'at' to schedule it.
