Tips for fellow software / programming bloggers based on my experiences over past 6 months. These include : (1) Treat your readers like a jury not as customers, (2) Make a strong statement. Avoid taking strong positions (3) Be prepared to update your blog soon, (4) Be prepared for surprises, (5) Don’t title spam your readers ... and more ....

@Bloid : why the thumbs down ? Is this offtopic for dzone ? Is it off limits to post your own content ? Something else ? Would certainly be helpful if you hint at why this might be voted down.

I feel it is bordering on off-topic (more-so after point #5 where it wanders into general blogging and seo)

Maybe my down-vote was a little harsh however, as I agree with #2 and #5 (and as you can probably tell, I read a lot of blogs) ;-)

"as you can probably tell, I read a lot of blogs"

Bloid reads the Internet so that we don't have to :)

Don't use Google, just wait for Bloid to post the interesting stuff to DZone.

The question of posting links to your own articles was covered previously:
http://www.dzone.com/links/should_we_post_our_own_articles_on_dzone.html

The overwhelming consensus was that it is fine to do so.

Yeah, I've got no problems with a bit of self promotion :-)
