There are many database sharding solutions in the market. In this article the author reviews the architecture of two common sharding platforms (MySQL based Spock Proxy and Gizzard by Twitter) with CUBRID SHARD, a new middleware based sharding solution which supports CUBRID, MySQL, and Oracle RDBMS. The author first explains the concept of Sharding data vs. Partitioning data. Then reviews the common methodology to implement sharding. And finally compares all sharding platforms. This article will be very interesting for developers interested in big data management.
