"Eventual Consistency" and "BASE" are the modern architectural approaches to achieve highly scalable web applications. Some of my previous colleagues, Randy Shoup and Dan Pritchett has already written up some very good articles about this. I recently have some good conversation from the cloud computing Google groups on the "eventual consistency" model. There is a general design pattern that I want to capture here.
