Want to know how much uptake Java SE 7 has seen since its release? Which IDE has grown most in user base since last year? Which application server has jumped 300% in popularity by Java developers since 2011? You’ll also get the latest numbers on Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Eclipse, JBoss, Jenkins/Hudson, Maven, Subversion and Tomcat (alert: shameless SEO plug). It’s all in there!

Why is the registration needed for the report? This is *wrong*!

@henk - I'm one of the report's authors, and I understand your concern. This report is the largest research undertaking that we have ever done, literally 2-3x the size of previous reports that we released without registration. With 30 pages of stats, data, analysis and interviews, I hope that signing up (you can always unsubscribe!) in a 30-second form isn't too much to ask, considering the months of effort we put into creating this report. Nothing is free, right? If you don't want to divulge any information, I guess you'll have to wait for the report info to slowly drip through other channels, which would be a shame. Thousands of people have already signed up and got the PDF in a couple of minutes. Have a productive day!

Thanks for reacting to my concerns Oliver, appreciate it!

It's not that I'm concerned with the registration itself, it's quick and fast and I trust you as a reputable company with my details.

My beef with the registration is that it makes it much more troublesome to link to your results. This is exactly the kind of data that fuels and supports many discussions, from which I and undoubtedly other people would like to link to your report, and would link to a specific section.

I understand that nothing is free (or actually, not everything is free), but don't forget that the data you gathered has been submitted to you by volunteers who thus spend their time to give you this data. It's a shared effort in that sense.

Anyway, again, thanks for your response explaining things from your view point.

My pleasure Henk :-) Why don't you drop me an email at oliver [at] zeroturnaround.com and we can discuss getting some of these results out to the wider community in a way that makes us both happy!
