Are opFly, Yahoo Pipes and similar "Average Joes" development tools a threat to our jobs? I think not! I think that availability of development to "Average Joes" will be an enrichment to development in general, just like cameras being available for "Average Joes" was for photography!

But why? I love being called nerd and I love it when people look up to me like I can do black magic! :))

Well, that's your problem... ;)
Just kidding!
You'd still be considered WISE!
You're just NOT going to be considered a "wise guy"...!! :)

:)) Actually I am not afraid for our jobs the least bit, it isn't actually something that can be done by everybody, besides the Average Joes will need somebody to build their nice build software for dummies tools. Even so, I don't think it will catch on too much it's not like they'll be suddenly able to understand how to build complex applications for enterprises or games or whatever the real programmers do :))

I had to stop reading the second time the author said "SW" instead of "software". Too lazy to add the six more characters?

Point taken... ;)
I will try not to be lazy in my next ones...!
I just assumed most people understood it since I've read it a lot yself on other people's blogs...

It's not a matter of understanding SW. It just, to me, seems unprofessional and like you pointed out, lazy. I don't want to read the thoughts from that type of author. I have very little time for keeping up on my industry and I don't have time for an article that I perceive to be weaker than most.

I hope you take this simply as constructive criticism and keep writing.
