So, now every language is going to get it's own Digg clone? Tough to vote this up as I would rather dzone got more users and simply allowed me to filter the content down to areas that I'm interested in (i.e. Java and Ruby but no Perl or PHP). Then I don't have to watch the Java Digg clone _and_ the Ruby Digg clone.
I don't think this kind of fragmentation is positive. Digg has abandoned a lot of its technical roots, and Dzone gives us what we used to get form Dig on the tech side. It is better to expand tech areas than to create a new clone for every technology that comes along. In the end the clones will fail because they cannot individually get enough traffic to support them; or they will have to abandon their tech focus and start doing comedy videos like Digg.
I guess I have nothing against clones, but if they are just grabbing off the shelf software and sticking in some content to sell ads it does not add much. Dzone on the other hand may be based on some earlier ideas, but it is a home grown interface with its own unique features and presentation.
If RubyFilter was really unique or well done, I'd support it, but I get the impression it's just an install of some Digg-clone. It's certainly not bad by any means, but it doesn't have anything that's grabbing my attention. I also vote for Dzone on this one.
