It gives me great pleasure to announce that DZone has just acquired this “Snippets” service from Peter Cooper, and we will soon be integrating it into our growing network of online resources for developers. I hope you’ll enjoy Snippets, and I hope you’ll join me in a discussion about how to evolve and enhance Snippets.

This is actually really cool :)
In other DZONE news...
1] I'm glad the upcoming screen shots were removed but I kinda miss them too, can't we have both? Maybe a tab to toggle between graphics and links? graphics weren't very practical but they were hella fun and super-pro result by whoever coded it.
2] The submit routine isn't catching duplicates. I've submitted 3 posts in as many days that were dupes. For a while there the submitter was working great. Now its not :-/
3] The last entry in the dzone blog was at Sep 26, 07:53 AM.
Going back to snippets for a moment, you might want to consider a paid service where programmers could cache original snippets for purchase, with dzone taking a small cut of course, maybe even a matchmaking service for contract work. Free is good too, but some snippets really are worth good money to the right people and I don't think anyone on the net is really doing this, at least not very well.
And going back to dzone (I'm almost done -- really) :) Our votes are bookmarks, we need a way to manage them please -- I know, even digg doesn't get this right, but one day SOMEONE besides del.icio.us is gonna get it right :)

Now we just need somebody to write a plugin for Eclipse, Visual Studio, and other IDEs similar to the one koders.com has.
Any takers? =)

I think the DZone team are going to have lots of ideas on this front and will probably implement a true API / REST interface to do this in future. Just a hunch. Currently it's rather Web-page focused.

It's a great site, good work.

Snippets was actually my very first posted link 147 days ago. Do I get a finder's fee? :)
Lowell Heddings replied ago:
And it was my vote that promoted it to the front page... I should get a finders fee too! =P

Sure you do. I have a DZone journal for both you and Lowell. Email me your address.
Red or blue?
Rick
