Following on from this post, and with reference to these posts by scorbs and this one by Ian, I thought it was time that my control got some states. I didn't want to be too ambitious with this so I figured that my control perhaps just needed some basic states which seem to be fairly common across all controls. I put these into two groups ( just like they are for the built-in controls );
